The Vocal Workshop Network
for Singers (and Others!)

Cathy created The Vocal Workshop Network in 1997, hosting various clinicians, including herself, every month, sometimes several a month. These workshops cover performance, technique, preparation, studio work, jazz, blues, Brazilian, music business, internet.. anything that a singer would be interested in, and many times other musicians and non-musicians are in attendance as well.

Left to right...vocalists Michele Weir, Kathy Kosins, Jay Clayton, Cathy Segal-Garcia, Mark Murphy, Madeline Eastman... At the 2006 IAJE convention in NYC, at Cathy's Panel on Creating Workshops

My Masterclass in Sept 2007 at the Brisbane Jazz Club, hosted by one of Brisbane's movers and shakers, jazz vocalist and educator, Ingrid James.

At the home studio of Cathy Segal-Garcia, unless otherwise mentioned. Besides private teaching, I hold Vocal Workshops at my studio in Granada Hills usually on a weekend day from 11:30am-3:00pm. Accompaniment by fantastic pianists like Dave Mackay, Tom Garvin, Karen Hammack, Tamir Hendelman. We get people up to sing for personal and individual instruction. We give information about your voice, performance, and professionalism. Many times you will see that I have visiting clinicians here for my workshops. I want you to know that I highly recommend all of them ~~ otherwise, I wouldn't invite them at all to teach my students! These are mostly professionals of 20-30 years. They have varied experience, and varied ways of teaching. Some live in town, and some come from out of town, nationally and internationally. These clinics are very inexpensively priced for you, the student. If I were you, I would most definitely take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that I've set up for you! They are invaluable, believe me, really invaluable!

There is a cost of $25-40, and you need to call (818)368-8839 or email me to reserve a spot.

Special for BERKLEE ALUMNI and CPJC members
- $5 discount on all workshops.

Saturday, May 24th
Recording Workshop! This one is held
at Theta Sound Studios in Burbank.
Time: 3 P.M.-9 P.M.

Cost: $65.00

We’ve done it before here…Randy Tobin is the engineer. You get to sing/play with a great pianist…talk through your song, dress rehearse your song, sing your song. Your rehearsal and “money take” get recorded. And you have a piano track of your money take, so you can practice with it at home later, and come into the studio again and re-record your vocal (or playing, if you’re an instrumentalist) track for a better result. This workshop always fills up early, as we have about 10 spots only…I’d suggest reserving your spot early. Time …It will start at 3:00 pm, we’ll go all through the afternoon and break for dinner perhaps… there’s a nearby café…and then into the evening, probably til 9:00!
