Scatting.

Do we want to scat?

Do we need to scat?

Does scatting make us a jazz singer?

If we sing other styles of music, do we need to be able to scat?

These are some of the questions I've heard over the years regarding scatting.

I've heard great scat, good scat, bad scat too! Like singing in general, a lot of doing it is actually more of a point of view, rather than technique or theory that you don't know or feel overwhelmed by.

I'm not saying you don’t need to study, train and learn theory.

I'm not saying that!

But...in all my years of teaching/coaching vocal students,

I've definitely decided that PERSPECTIVE is incredibly important.

So you can enter into scatting on different levels, with different concentrations. You don't have to feel overwhelmed by it all!
