FINALLY! I used to go to Japan every year, for 30 years! And then — The Pandemic!!! This is the first time I’m returning since 2019! YAY! I love Japan, it’s my second home! As you can see by the picture, Jaco and I have no fun at all! :)

I’ll be in Hiroshima, Osaka, Tokyo — And then on to join my partner in crime, Cho Yoonseung, In Seoul, Korea! Haven’t been there for a long time too! And Cho and I have a new recording finishing up, with strings, and rhythm section of Cho on piano, Jimmy Branley on drums, and Ahmet Turkmenoglu on bass!

Fish to Birds is a six-person a cappella vocal improvisation ensemble. We create music spontaneously as a group. We are primarily jazz musicians but have international backgrounds and influences. We have various forms we often work within, but nothing is rehearsed. Sometimes complete songs are created on the spot; sometimes more avant-garde compositions or soundscapes emerge. Come experience it all with us!
