CLASSIC PERFORMANCES

"Alone Together" '96 Tierney Sutton, Kate McGary, Stephanie Haynes, Cathy Segal Garcia

Alone Together was a vocal group I put together in the 90's. The idea was to have really good jazz singers get together with a great band, sing solo songs, duets, and a few vocal arrangements. We had different folks in the group, this one was Tierney Sutton, Kate McGary, Stephanie Haynes, and me - Cathy Segal-Garcia. The band was Paul Kreibich on drums, Bruce Lett on bass, and Karen Hammack on piano. This was at the old Jazz Bakery, that Ruth Price started in the old Helms Bakery Building in Culver City, L.A. She was a great supporter of events that I put on.

Pedrini's '94 Cathy Segal-Garcia, Brian O'Rourke, Bob Maize, Dick Weller

Pedrini's was a long-time music store small chain here in L.A. Musician parents bore several musical children; the whole family was fun and inspirational, and sweet!

They started performances in a small room, and that's where I started doing my voice workshops too!

This performance was fun! Brian O'Rourke piano, the amazing Bob Maize bass, and Dick Weller on drums!

"Alone Together" - Cathy Segal-Garcia, Julie Kelly, Cheryl Barnes, Stephanie Haynes at Jazz Bakery.

I created a vocal group, "Alone Together", that had various singers in it, once a spoken word artist, that lasted several years in L.A. mostly. This performance was held at the old Jazz Bakery in Culver City, with Roy McCurdy on drums, Putter Smith on bass, and Karen Hammack on piano.

Probably around the year 2000.

Other iterations included: Tierney Sutton, Kate McGary, Jimmer Bolden.

The idea was that we each sing several songs ourselves, a few written pieces for our group, and some standards that we could share scatting and jazz singing on!

This one was FUN!

Cathy Segal-Garcia at the Playboy Club 1985 Osaka, Japan.

This was the 2nd place I worked at Japan. The first was in Tokyo, also the Playboy Club. But in Osaka I found my peeps! I loved these guys, I absolutely wept when I had to leave after 6 weeks!

Sho Iwata, Satoru Ajimine, and Hideaki Kakimoto. In 2024 and 2025 we had reunion gigs...still GREAT! :)
