I’ve sung jazz standards for years! Started listening to Ella and Rosemary Clooney when I was born! I also happen to be a HUGE fan of singing with with jazz guitar! I’ve sung and recorded with some of the very best…to name a few on my recordings (because there’s really TOO many guitarists I’ve played with to list them all… Barry Zweig, Larry Koonse, Ted Greene, Joe Diorio, Anthony Wilson, Will Brahm, Wayne Brasel, Jamie Findlay…
All this to say, SINGING WITH JAZZ GUITAR IS FASCINATING AND FUN! It’s different than singing with piano.
Also, the Great American Songbook is truly an incredible and deep collection of music to get into! The subtleties are absolutely delicious - everything from timing with the guitarist, to your own phrasing, the tone of your voice with the tone of the guitar (and each guitarist and their guitar is different!), making the lyrics your very own…it’s an incredibly special experience!
